James Barrett
James Barrett grew up at Concord Road when his parents, who also still worship here, moved to Brentwood in the early seventies. He met his wife, Jessica, while he was getting his degree in Electrical Engineering and she was getting her degree in Geology at Tennessee Tech in Cookeville and they were married in 1988. After James earned his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering at UT Knoxville, they returned to Brentwood (and Concord Road!) in 1991. They have raised their children (Jessamyn, Laurel, Xander, and Rowan) here and have taught Bible classes at many levels from 4 year olds to adults. Over the years they have been active in youth programs including Inner City, Vacation Bible School, Kids for Christ, Lads to Leaders, Bible Bowl, Retreats, Church Camp, and general youth group activities. James has been a deacon in Institutional Benevolence, Kids for Christ, and 9th to 12th Grade Youth. Jessica and James have been so thankful for the focus and effort that is placed not only on evangelizing our community and world, but in teaching and strengthening our youth at Concord Road. James feels humbled to serve as a shepherd here and feels so fortunate that his family has been able to be a part of such a strong and loving congregation.
