Thirsty for Eternal Life - Part Two

Thirsty for Eternal Life - I Tim 6:12
Part 2 of 3 w/Keith O’Neal

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men…It is the Lord Christ you are serving. - Colossians 3:23-24

It is not what you do that determines whether your work is for God or for man, it is why you do it, what are you thirsty for? What’s your motivation? WHY DO YOU DO WHAT YOU DO?

The world often equates academia, job, & power with success! Power is not sinful in and of itself, but the question is raised: how are you using the power? Nothing wrong with power as long as it’s not your motivation. It cannot be the reason why you do what you do.

Unfortunately, power can offer an easy substitute for the hard task and God given command to love. Satan tricks us into thinking we have power. Satan is behind the belief it is easier to be god than to love God, easier to control people than to love people. Sadly, throughout history, many religious leaders and institutions have fallen for this lie. For those that seek and choose…power over love…control over the cross…what’s your motivation?

“You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me,”  But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth.” - Deuteronomy 8: 17-18

No matter how much power you think you have, you are nothing without God. Neither money nor power bring lasting contentment, fulfillment, or satisfaction. What brings us lasting contentment, fulfillment, and satisfaction?

“Jesus replied, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment, and the second is like it; Love thy neighbor as yourself.  All the law and prophets hang on these two commandments.” - Matthew 22:37-40

It’s not rocket science, we learn contentment by understanding what we have IN CHRIST

I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. - Philippians 4:11-13

WHY DO YOU DO WHAT YOU DO? Earthly Success or Eternal Success?

If Eternal, then continue to fight the good fight, persevere and stay steadfast in the faith, living each day for your Lord & Savior. If Earthly, SWERVE and REFOCUS on the Lord…it will literally change your (eternal) LIFE.
