Thirsty for Eternal Life - Part One

Thirsty for Eternal Life - I Tim 6:12
Part 1 of 3 w/Keith O’Neal

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men…It is the Lord Christ you are serving. - Colossians 3:23-24

It is not what you do that determines whether your work is for God or for man, it is why you do it, what are you thirsty for? What’s your motivation? WHY DO YOU DO WHAT YOU DO?

The world often determines success as making the big bucks! People on lists like the Fortune 500, and 100 richest people in the world, are seen as successful by worldly standards. There is nothing wrong with money as long as it is not your motivation. It cannot be the reason why you do what you do.

“But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.” - I Timothy 6: 9-10

In Matthew 19:16-24 - Jesus makes it clear that the Rich Young Ruler has a problem, money/riches stand between Him and God. The love of money was in his way. Think for a moment…What in your life gets in the way?

No matter how much money you have, you are nothing without God. Satan tricks us into thinking money is the answer, but money doesn’t bring lasting contentment, fulfillment, or satisfaction. What brings lasting contentment, fulfillment, and satisfaction?

“ Jesus replied, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment, and the second is like it; Love thy neighbor as yourself.  All the law and prophets hang on these two commandments.” - Matthew 22:37-40

It’s not rocket science, we learn contentment by understanding what we have IN CHRIST

I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. - Philippians 4:11-13

WHY DO YOU DO WHAT YOU DO? Earthly Success or Eternal Success?

If Eternal, then continue to fight the good fight, persevere and stay steadfast in the faith, living each day for your Lord & Savior. If Earthly, SWERVE and REFOCUS on the Lord…it will literally change your (eternal) LIFE.
