Set your Hope on Him
“On Him we have set our hope that He will continue to deliver us”
~ II Corinthians 1:10
What does it mean to be risky? It means taking a chance when others don’t believe but you have the faith, the willingness, to take action even if no one else does.
There are bad risks & good risks. Sadly, to stand up for Christ in our world today is risky...from an earthly perspective. You may lose friends, followers, family, scholarship, job, or even your life...your earthly life.
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” ~Hebrews 11:1
When you have full confidence that God will deliver you, the Christian life is no longer risky. The world says to us…“what god will be able to rescue you from our hand?”
Like Daniel’s friends, we need to say with confidence…we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace (any situation in life), the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us, but even if he does not, we want you to know that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up. (Daniel 3)
Being a Christian may be risky from a worldly viewpoint, but we know that when we accept Christ our salvation is already paid for, done. On Him we have set our hope that He will continue to deliver us. There is nothing risky when our hope and confidence are in Him!
“Only let us live up to what we have already attained.” ~Philippians 3:16
