His Purpose
Romans 8:28
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
Really? I don’t know if I believe that...you may hear someone say...or perhaps you have said it yourself. What about the hurricanes, heartaches, deaths, pains, diseases, fill in the blank with your “unanswered prayers”.
That line of thought is human logic, earthly wisdom, short-sightedness, and as Proverbs says over and over again, folly. God has made foolish the wisdom of the world (1Cor.1:18-20). This tweet from last week sums up the foolishness of defining the word “good” in Romans 8:28 with earthly wisdom.
For those that give up on God because they prayed & prayed & prayed & God “FAILED THEM” ...read the story of the Garden again in Matt. 26:36-46.
Do you feel like no one else on earth knows what you’re feeling? Our Lord has been in that spot...& His response, “Father your will, not mine”. God didn’t fail Jesus, Jesus aligned His purpose with the Father. Are you bearing a “cross” in your life? Do you feel like you’re hanging on one? “Father your will, not mine”, have faith, all things work together for good!
Admittedly, it’s tough to see the “good” in “all things”. Be encouraged to realign your purpose with the Father’s will and live by faith, not sight (2Cor.5:7). Don’t get so comfortable where you are, that you forget where you are headed. Father your will, not mine.
“The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9
