Thirsty for Eternal Life - Part Three
Thirsty for Eternal Life - I Tim 6:12
Part 3 of 3 w/Keith O’Neal
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men…It is the Lord Christ you are serving. - Colossians 3:23-24
It is not what you do that determines whether your work is for God or for man, it is why you do it, what are you thirsty for? What’s your motivation? WHY DO YOU DO WHAT YOU DO?
The world equates fame & beauty with success. Followers, Likes, Shares, Comments, in the end, they only leave you wanting more. There’s no end to that black hole. There is nothing wrong with fame & beauty (followers & likes) as long as it is not your motivation. It cannot be the reason why you do what you do.
People spend hundreds of hours & dollars trying to be famous and/or beautiful in the eyes of others. When what matters is how we look to God from the inside out. We need to cleanse ourselves from within before we worry about how we look to others from the outside.
“Now you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and of the platter; but inside of you, you are full of robbery and wickedness. - Luke 11:39
When our motivation is to achieve fame & beauty we become self-righteous and confident in and of ourselves. No matter how famous or beautiful you think you are, you are nothing without God. Neither money, power, fame or beauty will bring lasting contentment, fulfillment, or satisfaction. What brings us lasting contentment, fulfillment, and satisfaction?
“Jesus replied, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment, and the second is like it; Love thy neighbor as yourself. All the law and prophets hang on these two commandments.” - Matthew 22:37-40
It’s not rocket science, we learn contentment by understanding what we have IN CHRIST
I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. - Philippians 4:11-13
WHY DO YOU DO WHAT YOU DO? Earthly Success or Eternal Success?
If Eternal, then continue to fight the good fight, persevere and stay steadfast in the faith, living each day for your Lord & Savior. If Earthly, SWERVE and REFOCUS on the Lord…it will literally change your (eternal) LIFE.
